Nexstar Media Group, Inc. America’s largest local television broadcasting company, is seeking a strategic, results-driven Vice President of Political Sales. The VP of Political Sales will lead and grow the company’s political advertising revenue across its dynamic portfolio of broadcast stations, digital platforms, and national sales teams.
The VP of Political Sales will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies tailored to the fast-paced, high-stakes political advertising market. The ideal candidate will possess managerial experience, a deep understanding of the political advertising landscape, and the ability to forge strong relationships with campaigns, PACs, political consultants, and agency clients. The VP of Political Sales will work to leverage the power of the Nexstar Media Group portfolio, to deliver nationwide and local reach and impact.
Responsibilities:
- Build Nexstar’s national political sales division, hire, manage team of sales executives, set goals and drive strategies to achieve maximum revenue across linear and digital platforms.
- Create the framework for political sales and go-to-market strategies across all platforms.
- Sell linear and digital inventory across Nexstar’s portfolio.
- Identify and grow strategic partnerships specializing in advanced media, direct and programmatic digital and data enablement.
- Build and maintain relationships with key political consultants, campaign managers, PAC representatives, and agency buyers.
- Have a deep understanding of election cycle races, impact and more specifically, those across the Nexstar Media Group footprint.
- Focus on helping clients utilize Nexstar’s innovative data and technology solutions to deliver high-value precision targeting.
- Collaborate closely with departments across the Nexstar organization, including yield monetization, sales enablement, marketing, operations, technology etc. to maximize partnership opportunities.
- Responsible for setting and achieving annual and multi-year billing and strategic goals.
Qualifications:
- Multiple years of sales and managerial experience in advertising, media, and relevant roles, with a minimum of five years’ experience in political advertising.
- Extensive experience and working relationships with political consultants and legislative leadership marketing contacts with proven track record of translating partnerships into results.
- Experience guiding, coaching, and motivating sales teams to deliver revenue set goals.
- Extensive experience in linear and digital advertising sales platforms, data analytics, and emerging technologies.
- Excellent communication skills, and ability to develop and present strategic updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker, creative problem solver, resourceful leader.
