Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in services for the Visually Impaired. This full-time position serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade and offers a contract for the 2025/2026 school year. The role is designed to support learners with visual impairments through tailored instruction and specialized educational strategies.
Location: Mentmore, New Mexico
School Type: K-12
Contract Duration: One school year (2025/2026)
Work Setting: Virtual experience required
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Utilize specialized teaching methods and adaptive technologies to enhance learning
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including parents, teachers, and related service providers
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Provide training and support to staff regarding visual impairment needs and accommodations
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with educational standards
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proven experience in a virtual learning environment
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and educational teams
