NON-EXEMPT. This position is responsible for providing professional level technical assistance for Special Projects in support of Perma-Fix Business Center activities on an as-needed basis. Such technical support may include, but is not limited to, radiation protection and health & safety areas such as dosimetry, bioassay, instrumentation, program/procedure development, survey design and performance, dose assessment, regulatory compliance, and data analysis. Perform such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Duties
· Provide assistance for specific special projects.
· Directs activities of technical and administrative personnel assigned to support the task.
· Coordinates activities with Perma-Fix program management for the functional areas covered by the special project.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant technical or applied activities. An advanced degree (1 year) or relevant certification (2 years) may be substituted in lieu of experience.
· BS degree in engineering, science, or related field.
· DOE “L” or “Q” security clearance or the ability to obtain the same, as required.
· Nationally recognized certification preferred (e.g., NRRPT, CHP, CIH).
· Strong general knowledge of radiation protection fundamentals, including internal and external dosimetry, shielding design, ALARA evaluation, regulatory requirements, program development, instrumentation, health effects of radiation, hazard assessment, survey design and implementation, laboratory analysis and quality assurance.
· Demonstrated ability to implement and apply technical knowledge and theory to practical field situations. The individual may have equivalent knowledge and skills in a technical area other than radiation protection if that is the primary area that he/she will provide expertise in.
Working Conditions
In addition to office assignments, may need to have frequent visits to project locations which may include hazardous waste treatment facilities, environmental remediation projects, radioactive contaminated areas, etc. May require ability to don and use respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment. Visit facilities and projects throughout the United States and possible international locations.
