The Office of Alumni Relations at Elizabethtown College invites applications for an Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement.


TheAssistant Director of Alumni Engagementplays a key role in implementing initiatives that provide meaningful alumni touchpoints that foster an ever-increasing sense of loyalty toward, commitment to, pride in, and support of Elizabethtown College (Etown) and its mission. This position supports the Director of Alumni Engagement in executing programs, communications, and events that connect 24,000+ alumni and Etown. Alumni engagement is viewed and supported as a strategic priority and this role reflects that commitment and contributes directly to advancing those priorities. The ideal candidate will be a creative relationship builder and collaborator who brings fresh ideas for engaging and communicating with alumni. As a visible ambassador of Etown, the Assistant Director will represent the Office of Alumni Relations at events and programs, occasionally traveling to support alumni engagement efforts. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, this role contributes to initiatives aligned with Etown’s strategic priorities and the Office of Alumni Relations mission. The Assistant Director will collaborate closely with colleagues in the Institutional Advancement Division, Career Development, Athletics, and other campus partners to deliver high impact to alumni engagement.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan and executive class reunions, regional alumni events and initiatives, and academic department-based programs.
  • Assist academic and campus departments, Career Development, Athletics, and student organizations in the creation of alumni related programming, including Visit Alumni Fellows (VAF) program.
  • Coordinate programming and initiatives aimed at connecting alumni with current students.
  • Support the coordination of Homecoming and Family Weekend and other alumni events.
  • Lead planning and execution of the Homecoming and Family Weekend parade, bring creativity and vision to one of the College’s current student and alumni traditions.
  • Partner with the Office of Marketing and Communications to create compelling content for alumni outreach, including alumni e-newsletter, social media, email campaigns, and video highlights.
  • Contribute to the promotion of alumni events and programming across platforms.
  • Assist the Director of Alumni Engagement with the planning and implementation of Alumni Council meetings.
  • Serve as a liaison to student leadership groups and alumni volunteer committees, including Student Assembly with the support of class gifts.
  • Aid in the facilitation of alumni volunteer involvement in student programming, including student and alumni networking events for career development initiatives.
  • Work closely with Part-Time Administrative Assistant to ensure clear programming logistics and communication.
  • Serve on campus committees as needed.
  • Attend events and represent the College as a welcoming and engaging presence.
  • Track engagement metrics and contribute to data informed planning for events.
  • Support data and platform management across key systems ensuring accurate records effective outreach, and smooth integration with engagement strategies.
  • Aid in identifying alumni prospects for Alumni Council and philanthropic involvement coordinating information with appropriate IA staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.


NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Attend meetings in the absence of the Executive Director of Legacy Planning and Engagement and Director of Alumni Engagement.
  • Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree is required; Elizabethtown College degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in higher education demonstrated accomplishment in Internet marketing/communications is preferred. The College supports professional development in the alumni engagement field to help grow knowledge and experience.


Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations

This position requires a valid driver’s license for business travel purposes (individual must have a US driver’s license for at least three years; a motor vehicle record check will be run and the incumbent must pass the College’s MVR rating system).
