Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Two full-time special education teaching positions are available at a K-12 school located in Staunton, VA. These are contract roles for the current school year (CSY), offering an opportunity to work with diverse student populations in a supportive educational environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instructional support tailored to students with disabilities in a high school setting
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet student goals
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adapting strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration
- Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that supports academic and social growth
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with K-12 students, ideally within a high school caseload
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Ability to create and implement individualized instructional plans
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and colleagues
