Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Special Education Teacher specializing in serving students who are visually impaired is sought to support K-12 learners for the 2025-2026 school year. This contract position is designed for a dedicated professional passionate about making a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys. Virtual teaching experience is required to effectively reach and engage students in a hybrid or remote learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students who are visually impaired.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student learning and accessibility.
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies and assistive technology to facilitate optimal educational outcomes.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Provide ongoing communication with families and school staff to ensure a comprehensive support system.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with all educational regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification, with endorsement or experience in teaching visually impaired students.
- Proven experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver instruction in virtual or blended learning formats.
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and accommodations for visually impaired learners.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Location: Gallup, NM (with virtual teaching component)
