Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity is for a dedicated mental health professional to support the social and emotional wellbeing of middle school students during the 2025-2026 school year. The role involves providing counseling and social work services within a middle school setting to help students navigate challenges and promote positive mental health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions addressing students social, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop effective intervention plans
  • Assess student mental health and provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Facilitate referrals to external mental health resources and community services
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with confidentiality regulations
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Licensed Counselor, Social Worker, or related mental health professional credential
  • Experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in school settings
  • Strong assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with students, staff, and families
  • Knowledge of school-based mental health programs and community resources
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Location:
Rutland, Vermont Middle School environment

This contract position spans the entire 2025-2026 academic year and provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student wellness within a supportive educational community.
