Job Position: Special Education Teacher
Location: Accomack, VA 23301
Pay Rate: $37-45/hr
Birch Agency is hiring Special Education Teachers for in-person teaching positions in the Accomack County, VA area. We are interested in hiring teachers who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of students in Special Education and the ability to help student develop competencies in academic, social, and motor skills.
Essential Duties

Implements the assigned program of study.

Develops and implements Individualized Education Program (IEPs).

Monitors student progress toward achieving instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs.

Maintains and upgrades professional skills.

Teaches rules of conduct.

Maintains order in classroom and on playground when applicable.

Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.

Discusses pupils academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents. Keeps attendance and grade records as required by school.

Coordinates class field trips when applicable. Works cooperatively with the total staff.

Assumes responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities.

Assumes responsibility for a neat, safe environment and promotes positive interaction with and among students.

Encourages self-direction and self-motivation and demonstrates knowledge of the subject(s) being taught.

Utilizes a variety of appropriate materials and resources.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal and the Special Education Director.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Must possess a Bachelors or Masters degree in education or a related field.

Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Collegiate Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach special education.

Must possess ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
