Job Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced metrology science principles to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable metrology standards, including:
  • ANSI/NCSL Z540.1-1994 (R2002) – Calibration Laboratories and Measuring and Test Equipment - General Requirements
  • ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006 (R2013) – Requirements for the Calibration of Measuring and Test Equipment
  • ISO/IEC 17025:2017 – General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories
  • Conduct end-of-period reliability analysis and recommend adjustments to measurement intervals based on manufacturer and model performance data.
  • Provide technical consultation to end users on selecting and using measurement and test equipment.
  • Identify equipment that qualifies for exemptions or alternative measurement schemes such as Calibrate Before Use (CBU), limited calibration, no periodic calibration, or other reduced calibration requirements.
  • Ensure proper application and use of NIST traceable reference standards or recognized intrinsic standards for measurement verification.
  • Ensure applicable working standards are available, controlled, and used in measurement verification.
  • Maintain unique metrology identifiers for equipment tracked under metrology requirements.
  • Support compliance with NPR 4200.1, NASA Equipment Management Procedural Requirements for any off-site measurement-related activities.

Requirements

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.

Required Years of Experience:

  • Level 1: 2 years of related experience
  • Level 2: 5 years of related experience
  • Level 3: 10 years of related experience

Required Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, Certifications, etc.:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass a NASA background investigation.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, Certifications, etc.:

  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating measurement reliability and performance data.
  • Excellent communication skills for providing technical guidance and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently in technical environments.
