Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A K-12 school in Evans, GA is seeking a skilled educator to serve as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This contract position is available for the current school year (CSY) and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students educational experiences by providing specialized instruction and support.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate students with visual impairments to determine educational needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students visual and learning requirements
- Adapt curriculum and materials to make content accessible for visually impaired students
- Provide direct instruction and intervention in areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to ensure integrated support
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and municate regularly with stakeholders
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in visual impairment education
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent credentials
- Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired or blind
- Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies, braille, and adaptive technologies
- Strong munication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop individualized plans and track student progress effectively
