Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 school in Evans, GA is seeking a skilled educator to serve as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This contract position is available for the current school year (CSY) and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students educational experiences by providing specialized instruction and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate students with visual impairments to determine educational needs
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students visual and learning requirements
  • Adapt curriculum and materials to make content accessible for visually impaired students
  • Provide direct instruction and intervention in areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to ensure integrated support
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and municate regularly with stakeholders
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in visual impairment education

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or equivalent credentials
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired or blind
  • Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies, braille, and adaptive technologies
  • Strong munication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop individualized plans and track student progress effectively
