Job Description

Job Description

Epoch Geoservices has spent the past four years studying the Uinta Basin's oil and gas operations while paving the way for in-field wellsite geology practices that assist in new possibilities for geology and energy production. We are seeking geologists who want to be part of our highly technical operations in Wellsite Petroleum Geology. Whether you are already an experienced Wellsite Geologist or a new graduate, we are looking for individuals who are interested in further exploring the current frontier of Petroleum Geology while setting the standard of wellsite geology. Mileage is paid and effective transportation is required for the job. We work in multiple basins, so relocation is not required, but you will need to travel to the job site every well. We do not offer medical at this time, but will compensate you ~$200/month to put toward a personal medical plan. We also do offer 401k options with a 3% employer match.

Responsibilities for mudlogger/wellsite geologist include:

  • Analyze the data collected from drilling mud and cuttings to evaluate the properties and characteristics of the subsurface formations
  • Analyze and interpret cuttings at the well site to determine rock type and hydrocarbon presence
  • Creation and maintenance of formation evaluation logs
  • Gathering, monitoring, and analyzing information relevant to drilling operations
  • Effective communications with both onsite and offsite operations teams
  • Using high end equipment such as a mass spectrometer, binocular microscopes, X-Ray fluorescence spectrometer, and fluoroscopes; the data is logged and communicated to the team
  • Ability to work 7-10 days per well with 12 hour shifts each day (starting on nights and working into days)
  • Effective means of transportation to and from job site (paid mileage, no need to relocate if within 500 miles of basin)
