Title of position: Career Services Assistant / Student Worker

Supervisor:Richard Hess (Director of Career Services)

Position Start Date: Fall 2024

Number of students needed: one (1) or two(2)

Schedule: TBD, Mon-Fri during The Director of Career Services’ hours. 20 hours max per week

Salary: $18 per hour

Primary Goals for Career Services Assistant

  • Be an active Career Services Representative for NSAD’s student + alumni population within the field of Architecture, Interior, Product, and Graphic Design + related disciplines.
  • Assist in creating lasting relationships with Industry Professionals + Alumni.
  • Assist with maintaining a log of current job openings and placement.
  • Assist with notifying students and alumni of various employment opportunities.

Career Services Assistant Responsibilities

  • Attend + assist in meetings, workshops, career fairs, and events as scheduled.
  • Utilize various avenues (LinkedIn/Instagram/Indeed) for current job postings.
  • Assist with the Grad Show (Employer + Family Event) coordination and setup
  • Assist students with preparing their resume, cover letter and portfolios.
  • Tracking graduate and alumni placement with the assistance of The Director of Career Services.
  • Work closely with Marketing to exemplify alumni success stories.
  • Maintain communication with The Director of Career Services daily.
  • Understand and perform the goals, objectives, and needs of the Career Services Department.
  • Performing all job-duties as requested by The Director of Career Services.

Required Skills and Specifications

  • Able to use Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to use Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat DC).
  • Proper use of punctuation and spelling in addition to accurate keyboarding skills.
  • Ccommunication skills and professional presentation knowledge.
  • Ability to complete tasks that are requested in a timely manner.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
  • Attention to detail, successfully perform under pressure/deadlines.
  • Honest, respectful, trustworthy, and committed to diversity + inclusion.
