Title of position: Career Services Assistant / Student Worker
Supervisor:Richard Hess (Director of Career Services)
Position Start Date: Fall 2024
Number of students needed: one (1) or two(2)
Schedule: TBD, Mon-Fri during The Director of Career Services’ hours. 20 hours max per week
Salary: $18 per hour
Primary Goals for Career Services Assistant
- Be an active Career Services Representative for NSAD’s student + alumni population within the field of Architecture, Interior, Product, and Graphic Design + related disciplines.
- Assist in creating lasting relationships with Industry Professionals + Alumni.
- Assist with maintaining a log of current job openings and placement.
- Assist with notifying students and alumni of various employment opportunities.
Career Services Assistant Responsibilities
- Attend + assist in meetings, workshops, career fairs, and events as scheduled.
- Utilize various avenues (LinkedIn/Instagram/Indeed) for current job postings.
- Assist with the Grad Show (Employer + Family Event) coordination and setup
- Assist students with preparing their resume, cover letter and portfolios.
- Tracking graduate and alumni placement with the assistance of The Director of Career Services.
- Work closely with Marketing to exemplify alumni success stories.
- Maintain communication with The Director of Career Services daily.
- Understand and perform the goals, objectives, and needs of the Career Services Department.
- Performing all job-duties as requested by The Director of Career Services.
Required Skills and Specifications
- Able to use Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Able to use Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat DC).
- Proper use of punctuation and spelling in addition to accurate keyboarding skills.
- Ccommunication skills and professional presentation knowledge.
- Ability to complete tasks that are requested in a timely manner.
- Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
- Attention to detail, successfully perform under pressure/deadlines.
- Honest, respectful, trustworthy, and committed to diversity + inclusion.
