Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time contract position is available for a Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in a self-contained classroom setting. This role focuses on serving approximately 8 students with autism within a Structured Learning Environment (SLE) designed to meet the needs of students requiring significant and complex support in a smaller, structured classroom.
Location: Winfield, IL | Winfield Central | SLE Program
Contract Duration: Immediate start through June 2, 2026
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and support to middle school students with autism in a self-contained classroom
- Implement the Structured Learning Environment program catering to students with significant and complex support needs
- Develop and modify IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) to meet students unique learning goals
- Collaborate with educational professionals and families to ensure the best outcomes for students
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification in Special Education teaching
- Experience working with middle school-aged students, especially those with autism
- Ability to manage a self-contained, structured learning environment effectively
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and best practices
