The Pre-K Teacher provides a high-quality early learning experience for four-year-old children enrolled in the Mecklenburg County Pre-K program. The teacher supports childrens cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development through developmentally appropriate, play-based instruction and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with NC Pre-K standards.
  
  
• Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that promotes school readiness.
  
  
• Support childrens social-emotional growth and positive behavior.
  
  
• Observe, document, and assess childrens progress using required assessment tools.
  
  
• Communicate effectively with families and collaborate with teaching staff and administrators.
  
  
• Participate in required professional development and coaching activities.
  
  

Education & Qualifications:

• Assistant Teacher: Currently enrolled in an early childhood education program or willing to enroll and actively work toward required credentials as outlined by NC Pre-K and DCDEE.
  
  
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and licensure support through the NC Early Educator Support (EES) system.
  
  
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn early childhood best practices and child development principles.
  
  
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Desired Experience:

• Experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed early childhood or NC Pre-K classroom.
  
  
• Familiarity with developmentally appropriate practice and play-based learning.
  
  
• Experience supporting childrens social-emotional development and positive classroom behavior.
  
  
• Knowledge of or experience with classroom observation, documentation, and assessment tools.
  
  
• Experience partnering with families and working collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
