Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity is for a full-time Special Education Teacher serving students in a K-12 school setting in Freeport, IL. The contract runs through the current school year, providing a stable placement for a dedicated educator with a commitment to supporting students with autism and low-incidence disabilities.

Responsibilities include managing a self-contained classroom environment with a maximum of 13 students per caseload. There are two available caseload options:

Elementary level: 7:30 AM to 2:45 PM, focused on autism or low incidence needs.
Middle school level: 8:45 AM to 4:00 PM, also serving students with autism or low incidence disabilities.

Ideal candidates will hold a valid Illinois Special Education license and demonstrate the ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), adapt curriculum for diverse learners, and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment.

Key qualifications and experience:

Valid IL Special Education Teacher License
Experience with self-contained autism or low incidence classrooms preferred
Ability to manage a classroom with a caseload of up to 13 students
Strong communication skills to collaborate with families, staff, and support teams
