Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Youth Interns will co-lead all aspects of the Truth About Using Program in collaboration with Roots staff, providing a youth voice and perspective in program planning and evaluation.
- Youth Interns will help to create needs assessments, facilitate weekly groups, and support engagement activities.
- The Youth Intern will meet with the program team every other week to monitor progress, create curriculum, and assist Roots staff in program planning (1 hour every 2 weeks).
- The Youth Intern will attend weekly virtual Truth About Using team meetings with other Youth Interns and Youth Leaders (1 hour per week).
- Youth Interns will attend in-person Kickback Friday sessions twice a month to co-lead activities with Roots staff and co-present digital health education materials with other Youth Interns and Youth Leaders (2 hours every 2 weeks).
- Youth Interns will support other youth participants with research and the creation of digital health education materials (videos, flyers, etc.), producing monthly digital products (up to 7 hours per week).
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Between the ages of 12 and 17, and 18 if still in high school
- Interest in making an impact in their community
- Available for virtual meetings and in-person workshops after-school on weekdays (up to 2 days per week)
- Enjoy working with diverse youth (cultural, language, and gender diversity)
- Interest/proficiency in working with urban underserved populations
- Excellent communication skills
