Field Service Controls Engineer
GCF Technical Services - All U.S. Locations (Traveling Role)
This is a traveling role. You can live in ANY CITY in the United States & we will provide transportation to job sites.

Summary:
-
Traveling, project-based, Controls Engineering role working in high profile manufacturing operations (auto manufacturers, leading logistics companies, etc.)

Hours (ranging from 40 to 80+) and day-to-day responsibilities are variable

Position features the ability to have input (such as industry, type of work, and location) on the projects that you will have the opportunity to work on

Training will be provided on a per-project basis to enable new skill development

Posting covers junior to senior roles and compensation will be scaled on experience and aptitude / credentials
Compensation:
-
Starting wage of $30-$40 per hour (1.5x pay over 40 hours and 2x pay over 58 hours per week)

$175-$250 per day cash “per diem” for food and lodging (average additional cash payment of $50,000-$65,000 a year, tax-free)

Including per diem, total compensation averages at $40-$70 / hour or $125,000 - $300,000 annually

Responsibilities:
-
Design, program, and troubleshoot control systems using PLCs such as Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, and Beckhoff to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automated control systems and robotics for industrial applications.

Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in control systems, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to project timelines.

Collaborate with clients to understand requirements, provide technical support, and deliver customized automation solutions.

Conduct system testing, validation, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Train end-users and provide ongoing support for the operation and maintenance of control systems and robotic equipment.
Qualifications: (pay will be scaled by experience)

High School Graduate or equivalent (GED)

Previous experience or relevant 2 or 4-year degree preferred

Strong personal / communication skills, ability to work well within teams, strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Ability to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate

Extensive travel required (transportation costs will be covered by the company and an additional per-diem for expenses will be paid to the employee; travel may be local, national, or international depending on job requirements and employee preference
