This Pittsburgh-based Senior Energy Engineer role supports Western Pennsylvania development and engineering teams. The primary focus is to help develop, secure, and manage energy efficiency contracts. Acting as the key technical resource, the engineer will identify energy improvement opportunities across various sectors, including government, healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial. The role demands strong technical skills, customer communication, and an entrepreneurial mindset. It offers career growth through involvement in all project phases-from sales and design to construction and verification-and includes mentoring junior engineers.
Location: Hybrid in Pittsburgh, PA
Responsibilities:
· Identify and develop energy efficiency and cost reduction strategies, establish energy baselines, and create measurement and verification (M&V) methodologies.
· Calculate savings, generate financial justification reports, and support project implementation including equipment delivery.
· Build and maintain strong customer relationships by communicating company strategies to meet client goals and sales targets.
· Provide technical sales support and coordinate internally with team members and externally with customers and contractors, addressing concerns as needed.
· Assist with audits, commissioning, troubleshooting, and ensure accurate project documentation and compliance with safety protocols.
· Specialize in a technology area, stay updated on innovations, share knowledge, mentor junior engineers, and travel as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Utilized in this Position Include:
· Experienced in engineering and construction for retrofit/renovation projects, coordinating multiple disciplines.
· Knowledgeable in occupational health, safety, environmental regulations, and energy efficiency calculations.
· Skilled in building modeling software (e.g., Trane 3D Plus, Carrier HAP) and general office software.
· Strong organizational, multitasking, and technical report writing abilities.
· Proven ability to lead engineering teams and collaborate with consultants and facilities staff.
· Comfortable working within diverse teams and managing multiple priorities.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 10 years of energy engineering experience is required and a basic understanding of central utility plants, HVAC equipment and Building Automation Systems (BAS) controls
· University degree or college diploma in the field of mechanical /energy engineering or architectural engineering, or Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry knowledge.
· A current professional engineer's license in at least one state is preferred.
· Certified Energy Manager with the Association of Energy Engineers is preferred.
· Required background and security screening for Customer facility access
