Job DescriptionJob Title: QC Associate Scientist
Location: St. Louis, MO, 63118
Duration:11+ months (Possibilities of Extension)

Work Shift: Mon - Fri
Training 8 am – 5 pm (some flex after - start 6-9 am)

Notes:

  • We are looking for someone that can help with support functions for the lab and high throughput product testing.
  • Test methods would include pH, conductivity, specific gravity/density, gel electrophoresis, ultrapures, and titrations
  • Experience with micropipettes. ELISA, Immunology Testing, PCR preferred
  • SAP preferred Recent Grad Degree in Bio/Chem preferred
  • 5/6 hours at bench running tests


The ideal candidate would possess the following skills or experiences:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Reading/interpreting Safety Data Sheets
  • Demonstrated ability to use micropipettes (10 ul to 1 ml) Demonstrated ability to use analytical balances Basic scientific calculations such as Molarity, dilution schemes


Job Description Summary:

  • Evaluate products according to established protocols, provide technical support to others and perform operations in support of the group and department.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Safely perform operations to meet quality expectations.
  • Ensure quality throughout the process.
  • Provide complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelines.
  • Perform and interpret analytical evaluations of products and intermediates.
  • Complete the volume of work required to achieve group/departmental goals and meet deadlines.
  • Perform multi-disciplined, established processes, assays, and/or unit operations.
  • Accurately perform procedure independently.
  • Communicate the status of operations and bring deviations to the attention of supervisor.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting with assistance from lab subject matter experts.
  • Participate in process improvements under the guidance of a supervisor or subject matter experts.
  • Take the necessary action to resolve any unsafe conditions.
  • Assure you are adequately trained to perform tasks/assignments.
  • Clean-up equipment and working areas during and after operations.
  • Contribute to support functions of the lab (e.g., maintain equipment, prepare reagents, restock lab supplies, waste disposal).
  • Ensure all applicable logbooks have been filled out completely as required by current procedures.
  • Interact with other departments as needed.
  • Participate as needed in quality audits.


Requirements:

  • BA/BS in the life/ physical sciences or 3+ years of relevant lab experience Knowledge and experience with a variety of molecular, immuno, enzyme kinetics, and/or cell testing techniques preferred
  • 1+ years of previous lab experience preferred
  • Ability to perform scientific calculations preferred Strong time management skills Ability to multi-task Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to self-motivate and meet deadlines Logical approach to problem solving Attention to detail Strong computer skills Ability to thrive within a team atmosphere Experience with SAP preferred Ability to identify and communicate process improvement ideas is preferred


ADDITIONAL LOCAL NEEDS:

  • Chemical environment-Must be able to perform tasks while wearing personal protective equipment such as respirator or chemical protective clothing for extended periods.
  • May require occasional lifting and pushing of up to 80 pounds.
